Art by Patrick McDonnell (2006)

ArtLike ripping off a band aid, I think the first part of my review for Art needs to be dealt with quickly. STOP YELLING, CRAZY UPPERCASE TYPOGRAPHY! Feeling like this book was on permanent high volume was almost enough for it to be added to the not-for-blog pile. I’ve given myself a mental slap and we can all move on.

Art makes some pretty great art, or should I say ART? (Don’t go there Lucy). With just three colours, he creates beautiful chaos. There are splotches and zigzags, squiggles and scribbles. Art is cute and highly creative.

Art insideWith short sentences and great visuals this will work well with pre-schoolers and could lead into wonderful messy (or neat) artistic exploration.

Check out Art at Auckland Libraries.

Or buy Art from Fishpond.
