The nickle nackle tree by Lynley Dodd (1976)

If you have a bird phobia, then this not the book for you. There are more claws and beaks than you can shake a stick at.

“In the Manglemunching Forest there’s a Nickle Nackle tree, Growing Nickle Nackle berries that are red as red can be.” IMG_1213

More and more birds pile into the Nickle Nackle tree, until, well I’m sure you can guess what happens!

As you would expect with the legendary Lynley Dodd, this book is chock-a-block with gorgeous crazy words that are delicious to read. The illustrations are a treat too. A scrummy preschool choice.
