Horse by Malachy Doyle; illustrated by Angelo Rinaldi (2008)

My hunt for wonderful horse-themed picture books continues. Today’s find is an absolute beauty.

The story travels gently from a horse in a field, to the birth of her young foal and on as the foal grows into a colt.

“The children come to visit her. They love her warm, sweet smell, and the way her breath comes hot and heavy from her soft nose.”

Each illustration is breath-taking. I predict you will have to read this gorgeous book very slowly as your audience will want to soak up the amazing images.IMG_1235

A delight for an audience of all ages. Pony fans will be in heaven.
