I wish I had… by Giovanna Zoboli; illustrated by Simona Mulazzani (2010)

I would happily hang any page from this book on my wall. It’s not just the illustrations I love, the words and ideas are magnificent as well.

“I wish I had the night-black coat of a panther as it slips through the darkness… and the far-reaching gaze of an owl, light as a ghost.”

The phrase “I wish I had” begins each double-page spread and the selection of animals and desires is wide and varied, accompanied by the most beautiful illustrations.IMG_1379

There is so much scope for using this book with a class exploring poetry, I have a whole lot of love for this one.
