The legendary Pamela Allen writes delightfully rollicking rhyming picture books that are instant audience-silencers. Who sank the boat? always makes me happy. Just look at the hilarious donkey and cow on the cover, you can tell straight away there’s fun in them there pages.

A group of animal friends decide to go rowing on the bay, to disastrous effect. One by one the animals clamber aboard, the boat managing to stay afloat each time, just.

“Was it the donkey who balanced her weight? Who yelled, “I’ll get in the bow before it’s too late.” No it wasn’t the donkey who balanced her weight. Do you know who sank the boat?”IMG_1586

The crazy animals and wonderful repetitious story have made this a classic.
